The weight of things

Science
Grade 3

With a scale you can measure how heavy things are and compare them. If you roll clay or aluminum foil into a ball and then flatten it, the weight stays the same, so the same material weighs the same whatever its shape. But if you take the same size of iron, aluminum, and wood, they weigh different amounts, and salt and sugar do too. Comparing the same volume of different materials shows that weight depends on what a thing is made of.
