From flower to fruit

Science
Grade 5

Most flowers have stamens, a pistil, petals, and a calyx. Some flowers, like rape blossoms, have stamens and a pistil together in one flower, while others, like sponge gourds, have separate male and female flowers. When pollen from a stamen reaches the tip of a pistil, the flower is pollinated, and then the base of the pistil swells into a fruit with seeds inside. You can check this by covering flowers with bags and pollinating some but not others. Pollen is carried to the pistil by insects, wind, birds, or water.
