Our prefecture

Japan is made up of 47 prefectures, and an atlas or a set of prefecture cards shows the name and the place of each one. You can say where your prefecture and its neighbors are by using north, south, east, and west. Aerial photographs, relief maps, and land-use maps show where the mountains and the plains are and how the land is used, and you notice that land use follows the shape of the land. Where farming, fishing, and industry are strong, where the bullet trains, expressways, and ports run, and where the prefectural capital and the other main cities lie are all part of what makes each prefecture different. What you find can be gathered on an outline map or in a table.
