How plants grow and their parts

Science
Grade 3

When you grow balsams and sunflowers and watch them, you find that plants grow in a set order. The seed you plant first opens its seed leaves, then grows more leaves and gets bigger, and after it flowers it makes fruit with new seeds inside. Lining up your record cards by date shows this order clearly. The body of a grown plant is made of roots, a stem, and leaves. Looking at the flowers and the fruit as well shows how a plant carries its life from seed to seed.
